California Alliance for Minority Participation (CAMP)http://www.mrl.ucsb.edu/mrl/outreach/educational/CAMP/CAMP's mission is to increase the participation and success of students underrepresented in mathematical science, the life and physical sciences, and engineering through funding from the National Science Foundation, and the Regents of the University of California. CAMP students participate in a wide range of academic enrichment and advancement opportunities such as workshops, leadership development, preparation for competitive application to graduate school and most importantly, undergraduate research. Students are offered opportunities to gain research experience during their undergraduate years and summer research apprenticeships are available for CAMP-eligible students with no prior research experience. Participants receive summer scholarships and grants for project expenses. CAMP researchers present their results at statewide and national scientific meetings.
