Why I chose UCSB
I chose UCSB because I thought it provided a cool environment for me to study in—being next to the beach. I also like Santa Barbara; I feel it is a city that you can learn about and be comfortable in within a year, unlike many larger cities.

Interning in industry
I have enhanced my experience through many different experiences, such as internships in industry, where I worked after my freshman year. I learned how it’s done in industry by programming with people who have been programming for ten to twenty years. These internships have directly helped me take more value from my classes. I’ve also been able to take part in organizations on campus, specifically for computer science students, which has shown me a new social aspect to students who are in other engineering majors.

Future aspirations
My future plans after I graduate are to either pursue a Ph.D. in engineering with an emphasis on how programming languages and development models are applied in industry today, or I would like to go into industry for a couple of years, program, and then hopefully go back for an MBA to take a higher level approach to developing software products.
